Favorite Genre and Artist

            I enjoy many different types of music: rock, hip-hop, classical, and even a little country. My favorite is electro, though. Electro is like any other genre; it is more of a general term and contains subgenres. Electro is different not only in the sense that it does not use real instruments but also that it has very many subgenres rather than just a few. Electro includes subgenres like house, drum and bass, dubstep, trance, and much more. To pick a favorite of them all is tough but for me it’d be either dubstep or drum and bass; they are fast-paced and energetic. When I listen to either of them I feel an urge to get up and move. Partying is something that I love to do and music contributes, helping to better enhance the mood. Music can affect one’s mood immensely, depending on how one feels about it. My favoritism goes deeper, however; I have a favorite artist as well as a favorite song. My favorite artist is Pendulum, a group of six who compose mainly the drum and bass genre. Much of their work can be heard in racing games and movies. Their song, ‘The Showdown,’ is quite popular and very well-known. Despite Pendulum’s huge success as a drum and bass band they disbanded earlier this year and two of the former members became Knife Party and started performing a genre of music called drumstep. Knife Party is another one of my favorite musical groups and I feel it goes hand and hand with Pendulum’s work. I would sure like to swing with Pendulum!
